John the Baptist Bergamo
Giovanni Battista Bergamo graduated in Piano, Choral Music, Choral Conducting, and Opera Singing. He also studied Composition and Conducting. From 1981 to 1991, he participated in the Opera Workshop of the Teatro di Alessandria as a repetiteur, under the guidance of Maestros E. Muller, W. Humburg, and G. Bosio.
Conducting the Giovane Orchestra Piemontese since 1990, he has performed numerous concerts of sacred and symphonic music, and in 1991 he made his debut with W. A. Mozart's opera "The Marriage of Figaro." From 1995 to 1998, he collaborated with the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa as a singer and choir director. In 1997 and 1998, at the invitation of the Prefect of Genoa, Francesco Di Giovine, he performed the concerts for the Italian Republic Day with the orchestra, choir, and prestigious soloists such as soprano Chiara Taigi and tenor Ottavio Garaventa. Winner of a national competition based on exams and qualifications, in 1998 he was appointed tenured professor at the "G. Verdi" Conservatory in Como. In 2005, he conducted the world premiere of Temistocle Marzano's opera "I Normanni a Salerno" at the Teatro Verdi in Salerno. Since 2007, he has taught at the "A. Vivaldi" Conservatory in Alessandria. Since 2010, he has participated in the "Il Giglio è Lirica" Festival as artistic consultant and conductor. He has collaborated with internationally renowned artists including Ottavio Garaventa, Leyla Gencer, Franca Mattiucci, Adriana Maliponte, Gianni Raimondi, Luciano Saldari, Irene Cerboncini, Renata Scotto, and Giuseppe Valdengo. Since 2012, he has been artistic director of the Associazione Spettacolo Cultura and conductor of the Quadrivium Lyric Choir, organizing opera seasons at the Teatro Verdi in Genoa and conducting both operatic and sacred and symphonic repertoire.
